Lord Krishna, who came on this Earth as the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu more than 5000 years ago represents love, intellect, and wisdom. He imparted great and sacred knowledge to Arjuna who was reluctant to kill his own kin on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The culmination of that knowledge formed into what we today know as the Bhagavad Gita. The 700 verses of the holy book contain deep wisdom about life, which was not only relevant then, but today as well.
On the occasion of Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Shri Krishna, we wanted to share some of his knowledge which, if applied today, has the power to change your life. Without further ado, let’s start the wheel of wisdom for you all:
1. Importance of ” Beliefs”
It is our beliefs about our life, that shape everything in it. Whatever we believe is true for our life, actually becomes the reality of our life. So, should we not believe only on the aspects which we want to be true for us? Definitely, we should and that is what Lord Krishna would want us to do.
2. Love and attachment
There is a difference between love and attachment and Lord Krishna told us that till the time we have attachments, we cannot feel true love in our lives. The pure nature of blissful love is attained in the absence of attachments.
Meditation is one of the most important ways through which mastery over mind can be attained. And he who has mastered the mind can do anything in his life by the power of his strong mind.
4. What is happiness?
This quote by Lord Krishna is what we at Smile To Shine, totally and completely go by, not that all others are not relevant, but because we focus on talking about happiness, these words are our favorite. Truly, nothing in this world can make us happy if we are not happy from within. People run after things and material possessions and chase after people in search of happiness, but they do not understand that actually, it is all in our own minds. If we cannot decide to be happy from within, then nothing can do that for us.
5. Lord Krishna on ‘The Present Moment’
These are some golden words, which if applied can change our life. If we learn to live in the present moment and not stress and worry about the past and the future, we all can live a meaningful life.
6. Elaborating on Happiness
When our desires are less, the happiness in our hearts is more because we are able to focus on whatever we have and if we are grateful for all that we have, we are able to live better lives. An interesting aspect of gratitude is that the more we are thankful for the things we have in our lives, the more we get from life. And so, being grateful gives you the happiness of the moment and as well as the gifts of future.
7. Achieving goals
Most people tend to quit their goals if they are not met by a certain strategy. But, Lord Krishna says that if we are unable to reach our goals, we should not change them, but the strategies.
8. The best way to work
If we put our heart in the work that we are supposed to do, without worrying about the results, we work better because in the absence of stress we can work efficiently. Plus, most of the times, the reward is not in our hands, so it only makes sense that we focus on how to do our work.
9. Be Good; Do Good
If we do good, then only good will come to us, in this life and after that as well. Having a clean heart and conscience will always be beneficial, no matter what the world tries to tell you.
10. Nothing to worry about…
Our soul is for eternity and if that is the case, then should we at all be worried about anything in our lives?
11. Essence of Life
This last quote that we wanted to share with you all has the essence of life. How should we do anything and what should we not think about while doing anything in life are so beautifully said by Lord Krishna that we all need no more words to have the right motivation for a happy and blessed life.
We hope you liked the knowledge we shared with you all. Life is everything that Lord Krishna said about, and these quotes were not even the tip of the iceberg! The ocean of wisdom that Lord Krishna and his life were cannot easily be understood, but we can try and with each effort, we will only grow in life.
