When the parents of a child come to know that their child has a heart of gold even at a very young age, they feel extremely proud of their kid and take that kid as a sheer blessing from God.
Something similar is happening to the proud parents of Addison Williams, a 7-year-old girl, who even at this young age had the courage and a big heart to let go of all the birthday gifts she could receive on her birthday for a premature baby she had actually never even met. Such is the heart of this little angel!
On 23 October was Allison’s birthday and she had asked her guests to only bring cash donations as a gift. She received a total of $307 and she gave it all to the parents of the baby, Cooper Young.
Philip Young and April Young, were kind of shocked when she gave birth to their baby on 20 August. This was because she was just 26 weeks into pregnancy. At the time of birth, Cooper weighed 1 pound, 15 ounces. Doctors of the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston told the family that there were actually no indications as to how and why April went into labor so soon. Since his birth, Cooper had been in NICU, but now his condition is improving.
To share the journey of the life of their premature baby, the Youngs had created a Facebook page, Cooper’s Chronicles.
Addison’s grandfather, Mr. Brad Williams knew Philip Young, who was a firefighter medic in the Spotsylvania County Fire Department. Addison’s grandfather had actually introduced her to that page and she started following it. The little girl has always had a charitable soul; she had even collected donations for the homeless people and for the school supplies of children who could not afford it. And this time, she wanted to raise money for Cooper, and thought that she could ask guests to not bring presents for her upcoming seventh birthday. The special request was then printed on the party invitation cards.
Addison’s mother, Emily Williams told ABC News that her daughter comes up with these things on her own. The proud mom says that Addison has always said that she thinks there are many people who need stuff more than her. The mother further added, “She legitimately has a heart of gold. I don’t even know how to explain it. She never ceases to amaze us.”
The mother had sent a message to the Youngs on Facebook, telling them about the donation. They were very honored by the gesture of this little angel and they expressed their gratitude by calling her on her birthday and wishing her and they also told her that they were very honored that she selected Cooper. Cooper’s father, Philip said, “For her to do that and sacrifice presents for Cooper, to us is quite a selfless act.”
Talking about the Youngs, Williams said that they are actually very humble people. She believes that as Cooper’s dad is a firefighter and his mother is teacher, they want to give to the community more than receiving from it. She said that when she told them about the donation, they had actually said that they knew more people in the world who need that money.
Meanwhile, Cooper is now improving and the Young family is hopeful that they would celebrate Thanksgiving with their son at home. There are still some challenges to be won by the little one and his family, but the father of the child says that as he has made it so far till now, they are very hopeful that things will be great in the future.
Let us pray that little Cooper’s condition improves and soon he goes to his home. Whereas for, Addison, we just have praises and lots of love for this little girl. To be able to think about others at such a young age is truly adorable. Hope her giving spirit inspires others also to be such great human beings.
